How this site earns money, stated plainly: royalties on my own books and commissions on some Amazon links.

Prog Atlas (prog-atlas.com) is written and run by Marcus Stone, author of the Beyond the Sound book series. The site has a financial interest in two things, and you should know about both: the books I write, and the affiliate links I use.

My own books

Many pages on this site point to the Beyond the Sound books. They are my books: when you buy one, I earn royalties. When you buy one through an Amazon link on this site, I may also earn an affiliate commission on the same purchase. Please read what the site says about the books with that in mind. I am the author, not a neutral reviewer of my own work.

What an affiliate link is

An affiliate link is a link that tells a retailer you arrived from this site. If you go on to buy something, the retailer pays me a small percentage of the sale. The price you pay is exactly the same as it would be otherwise: the commission comes out of the retailer’s margin, not your pocket.

Amazon Associates Program

Prog Atlas is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. This applies to the Beyond the Sound books and to the albums and other products the site links to on Amazon.

It costs you nothing extra

Using an affiliate link never raises your price, and you are never under any obligation to use one. If you prefer, you can go to Amazon or any other retailer directly and search for the same item. The income helps cover the cost of running the site and keeping it free to read.

How albums are chosen

Commissions do not decide which bands and albums the site covers. The pages follow the scenes and the records that matter to them, including plenty that are hard to buy new or not sold on Amazon at all.

Other partners

If the site joins other affiliate or advertising programmes beyond Amazon, this page will be updated to say so, and the same principles will apply: clear disclosure and no extra cost to you.
